Trusting the university process

Every morning I get out of bed just before class. Sometimes class has already started. No time for breakfast, or a workout, or even to brush my teeth. I get up for school. Not for myself.

School is effective at keep students like me committed. We pay money to attend, choose a strict schedule, have deadlines and exams that force us to meet time-based standards, and are socially accountable to one another.

That's why I get up: for a number that supposedly determines my place in the world, or at least among my peers.
